An social activist has alleged that the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board question paper of Science I was leaked an hour before the March 15 exam on a WhatsApp group of students. The complainant, Govind Sharma, founder of Samvad Foundation NGO, told DNA that he immediately wrote to the Mumbai Divisional Board about the alleged leak, but his complaint went unheeded. He also alleged that he had warned the board on March 14 through email about the possibility of a paper leak. The Class X state board exams began on March 1 and will get over on March 22. "One of my sources informed me that a Bhiwandi-based school was going to receive the Science-I paper a day before the exam. On the day of the exam, I sent the screenshot of the message to the Board officials and also shared it with the police. The police took my statement on March 16, but the Mumbai division board officials didn't act," alleged Sharma. On Tuesday, four days after the incident, senior Bhiwandi police officials confirmed to DNA that the board officials were to meet them in the evening to decide the course of action. "The Mumbai divisional board officials are coming to us tonight to file an FIR on the paper leak matter," said Subhash Kokate, senior police inspector, Bhiwandi City police station. Krishnakumar Patil, in-charge chairman, Mumbai Divisional Board, said: "Our officials met the Bhiwandi city police personally to request an inquiry. The case will be registered only after a proper inquiry. Our officials have also taken steps to stop malpractice in that area." Sharma said more papers could have been leaked and the police should conduct a thorough investigation extending to coaching classes. TESTING TIME
