BHIWANDI: In a major breakthrough in the SSC exam paper leaks case, police have arrested the prime suspect, a 27-year-old vice-principal of a private school, and a private home tutor.Ambar Malik Afroj Ansari of Kakatiya High School in Kamatghar, who was in charge of the exam centre at this Bhiwandi school, circulated the papers in his custody among teachers and students of a coaching institute where he worked, police said.According to sources, Ansari would take photos of the question papers on his mobile phone and share them with teachers, who would, in turn, sell them to students.The other accused, Intekhab Patel (29), who was arrested by Narpoli police probing the history paper leak, allegedly circulated many subject papers to students of a school. With these two, the total number of arrests in the case has reached three. Police have hinted that some more coaching class staff and teachers of other schools may be arrested.Ansari teaches Science at Kakatiya High School in Kamatghar, Bhiwandi. The school was constructed six years back. Police have learnt that Ansari also teaches at a private coaching institute and he circulated papers to some of those students. The school management was not available for comment despite repeated attempts. However, a staffer claimed that Ansari was a good science teacher who had done his MSc and DEd.Earlier, Bhiwandi city police arrested Vazir Shaikh, who runs Career Education Classes. Ansari and Patel were on Saturday produced in a Bhiwandi court, which remanded them to police custody till March 29.Krishnakumar Patil, in-charge chairman of Mumbai Divisional Board , said serious action will be taken against people responsible for opening the bundle before the exam and circulating the question papers. “We will also take action against officials who have been negligent in the episode once the police investigation report is out. Action against the students will be decided after an independent inquiry committee comes out with their report,” said Patil. He said that he was not informed about the latest arrest.
