Mumbai: Devotees encouraged to go eco-friendly

Nirmalya are generally offerings made to God during worship, which includes flowers, garlands, plants, leaves, cotton and others. According to a spokesperson all the nirmlaya collected will be upcycled at Viviana Organic Manure Processing Plant to generate manure. "This organic manure will not only be distributed for free to our visitors after the Ganesh festival but also supplied to TMC for using it in their parks and garden," said the spokesperson. "On behalf of TMC an NGO called Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth, collects flowers and garlands from all the ponds and composts it. Similarly, the Viviana Mall too is carrying out activities in line with MPCB's guidelines and the same is being strongly encouraged and well received by TMC administration," shared Omprakash Divate, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, TMC.
