CIDCO lottery to get pushed owing to poll code

Earlier this year, MHADA's Mumbai Board lottery also had to be postponed because of the code of conduct during Lok Sabha polls. The state already is in poll mode, with the code of conduct in place, alliances announced and nominations being filed. LOTTERY SCHEDULE CIDCO is currently conducting two lotteries, one being under the banner Swapnapurti. The lottery was then scheduled for April 21, which was again pushed until after elections and was finally held on June 2. In the last week of August, CIDCO got a go ahead for constructing 1.09 lakh homes on a huge plot measuring 230 hectares at Sanpada.

At least one of the two lotteries that the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is holding this month will have its draw dates changed. This because the draw of one of the lotteries is falling on the days when the code of conduct will be applicable in the state. Earlier this year, MHADA's Mumbai Board lottery also had to be postponed because of the code of conduct during Lok Sabha polls. CIDCO is currently conducting two lotteries, one being under the banner Swapnapurti. The lottery is for 814 homes of in this project. Of these, 615 homes are for the Lower Income Group (LIG) while the remaining are for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. These homes are priced at Rs 39.17 lakh for LIG, while Rs 24.99 lakh for EWS. The application window for these homes opened on September 5, while the lottery is scheduled to be held on October 17. The second lottery is a mass-housing scheme, for which the draw date is October 30. The state already is in poll mode, with the code of conduct in place, alliances announced and nominations being filed. Maharashtra goes to polls on October 21, while counting will be held on October 24. Thus it will impact the first lottery that is scheduled to be held on October 17. So it will be after that (code of conduct)." Earlier this year, MHADA's Mumbai board had announced a lottery 217 homes in the first week of March. However, soon after that, the election code of conduct for Lok Sabha polls was announced. The lottery was then scheduled for April 21, which was again pushed until after elections and was finally held on June 2. Meanwhile, the CIDCO has a lot of homes in the pipeline for construction. In the last week of August, CIDCO got a go ahead for constructing 1.09 lakh homes on a huge plot measuring 230 hectares at Sanpada.
