Maharashtra Assembly polls: CM Devendra Fadnavis files nomination, accompanied by Nitin Gadkari

Amidst huge fanfare, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday filed his nomination papers for the upcoming state assembly polls due on October 21. Union minister Nitin Gadkari accompanied Fadnavis on a huge roadshow before filing his nomination papers. CM declares assetsFadnavis has declared immovable property worth Rs 3.78 crore against Rs 1.81 crore in 2014. He holds cash worth Rs 17,500 against Rs 50,000 in 2014 while he has bank deposits worth Rs 8,29,665 against Rs 1,19,630 in 2014. In case of Fadnavis' wife, her immovable property has been reported at Rs 99.3 lakh against Rs 42.60 lakh in 2014.

Amidst huge fanfare, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday filed his nomination papers for the upcoming state assembly polls due on October 21. Fadnavis is contesting from the Nagpur South-West constituency against Congress candidate Ashish Deshmukh. Union minister Nitin Gadkari accompanied Fadnavis on a huge roadshow before filing his nomination papers. Before the roadshow, Fadnavis and his wife Amruta visited Gadkari's Nagpur home where they sought the blessings of the Union Minister and his wife. The Chief Minister was seen touching Gadkari's feet. Later, Fadnavis and Gadkari stood together on an open truck as they waved to a sea of party supporters holding BJP flags. A visibly confident Fadnavis said, "We are blessed by the people of Maharashtra and Nagpur. I believe the progressing development and every other development that has taken place in the past is initiated by the BJP and thus BJP will definitely will win by a great margin. We will win all of the 12 seats in Nagpur." Nominations can be withdrawn by October 7. Further, Fadnavis has declared that there is not a single first information report (FIR) against him though there are four private cases against him. Fadnavis today hogged the headlines after the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed a Nagpur court to consider afresh a complaint accusing him of filing a false election affidavit as a candidate in the 2014 assembly polls. CM declares assets Fadnavis has declared immovable property worth Rs 3.78 crore against Rs 1.81 crore in 2014. The rise has been attributed to surge in market value of land in last five years. He holds cash worth Rs 17,500 against Rs 50,000 in 2014 while he has bank deposits worth Rs 8,29,665 against Rs 1,19,630 in 2014. This is due to rise in the salary of legislators. In case of Fadnavis' wife, her immovable property has been reported at Rs 99.3 lakh against Rs 42.60 lakh in 2014. Amruta Fadnavis has bank deposits worth Rs 3,37,025 against Rs 1,00,881. The value of shares are reported at Rs 2.33 crore against Rs 1.66 crore in 2014.
