Sachin Tendulkar tests positive for Covid-19, goes into home quarantine

Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar has tested positive for Covid-19 and has entered home quarantine. The cricket legend, in a message on social media, said the rest of his family had tested negative. Sachin Tendulkar recently led India Legends at the Road Safety World Series. India Legends beat Sri Lanka Legends in the final of the tournament. Sachin Tendulkar, the only cricketer with 100 international hundreds and 200 Tests, said he took all necessary precautions to ensure he kept Covid-19 at bay but he developed mild symptoms.

Tendulkar took to his official Twitter handle on Saturday morning (March 27) to share the news. Tendulkar is one of the biggest names to have tested positive for the virus in recent times. "I have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, I`ve tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative. I`ve quarantined myself at home and am following all protocols as advised by my doctors. I want to thank all the healthcare professionals who are supporting me and many others across the country. Take care all of you."

Notably, Sachin Tendulkar had decided not to celebrate his birthday last year as a mark of respect to the frontline workers leading India`s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Tendulkar had contributed a total of Rs 50 lakh to the CM Relief fund. He has also been involved with several other relief work initiatives. The COVID-19 cases have been on a surge in Maharashtra and Mumbai with over 36,000 positive cases recorded on Friday.` Tendulkar, who was the definition of cricket for many across the world during his decorated 24-year international career, has been receiving several messages on his Twitter post as his avid fans are praying for his speedy recovery.
