Budget exposes visionless Badal govt: Manpreet Singh Badal

Like Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, the former finance minister also described the budget as an accountancy exercise, featuring a few allocations under different heads but no specific plan to mobilize resources needed for the same.

CHANDIGARH: People`s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Singh Badal took on the state government saying the budget is a reflection of its lack of vision. He said the Akali Dal-BJP government had failed to draw a long-term roadmap to transform the strained economy. Like Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, the former finance minister also described the budget as an accountancy exercise, featuring a few allocations under different heads but no specific plan to mobilize resources needed for the same.

He said the "The revenue deficit is already on the rise and this budget will increase it. It seems that the government will depend more on raising loans, which will add to the debt burden, which has reached about Rs 1 lakh crore with a very high interest component", he said..
