HC rejects PIL challenging Naik`s appointment

LUCKNOW: The Allahabad high court on Monday dismissed a PIL challenging the appointment of BJP leader Ram Naik as the governor of Uttar Pradesh, declaring it lacked merit. A division bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice DK Upadhaya passed the order on a PIL filed by advocate Ashok Pandey. The petitioner challenged the appointment claiming chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was not consulted on the issue.

Naik is slated to take oath on Tuesday. .
