The PIL alleged that the police theory in the case was unconvincing.

LUCKNOW: A city-based NGO on Monday filed a PIL in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court demanding CBI probe into Mohanlalganj `rape` and murder case. The PIL alleged that the police theory in the case was unconvincing. It cited several reasons, including the impossibility of a single person committing the crime, to show loopholes in the police probe.

The PIL demanded appointment of grievance officers by all Internet Intermediaries as prescribed by Information Technology (Intermediaries guidelines) Rules, 2011, so that incidents like circulation of nude photographs of victims, as happened in Mohanlalganj case, can be checked. Further, it sought training and skill development for UP Police personnel so that they can deal with sexual offences in a more sensitive way..
