Karnataka: Forest department authorities rescue three elephants struck in farm pond in Chamarajanagar

Villagers who gathered in a large number immediately alerted the forest department authorities.The forest department authorities who rushed to the village immediately examined the situation. The elephants climbed the pond through the pathway and entered the nearest forest area.According to the locals, the elephant herd is presently staying in the local forest area. MYSURU: Three elephants which were struck in a farm pond in Kanakunduru village on Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border of the Chamarajanagar district in Karnataka were rescued on Saturday noon with the help of a JCB. "They fell inside the pond due to the landslip while drinking water," said Kanneshwar, a local resident.Even though the elephants tried to climb the pond, they couldn't due to the soft soil which was slipping. With its help, the authorities removed the slush and created a pathway.

This herd of elephants fell inside the pond while trying to drink water in the early hours of Saturday.Villagers who saw the elephants struggling to come out of the pond alerted the forest department authorities who rushed to the spot with an earthmover and helped the elephants to climb the pond by creating a small pathway.According to the villagers, on early hours on Saturday, these three elephants fell inside the pond while trying to drink water. "They fell inside the pond due to the landslip while drinking water," said Kanneshwar, a local resident.Even though the elephants tried to climb the pond, they couldn't due to the soft soil which was slipping. They started trumpeting for the fear of life. Villagers who gathered in a large number immediately alerted the forest department authorities.The forest department authorities who rushed to the village immediately examined the situation. As the pond slope was very soft and slippery due to the heavy downpour, they decided to bring the earthmover and help the elephants to climb up the pond through a pathway.As per the decision, an earthmover was brought to the village. With its help, the authorities removed the slush and created a pathway. The elephants climbed the pond through the pathway and entered the nearest forest area.According to the locals, the elephant herd is presently staying in the local forest area.
