The rescued elephants later went into a nearby forest. On seeing the elephants struggling to come out of the pond, the villagers alerted the forest authorities who rushed to the spot with the equipment. Mysuru: Three elephants which were stuck in a farm pond in Kanakunduru village in Chamarajanagar district on Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border were rescued on Saturday noon with the help of an earthmoving equipment.The herd of elephants is said to have fallen into the pond while trying to drink water in the wee hours of Saturday. They later brought the earthmover to clear slush and make a pathway which helped the elephants climb up. Feeling helpless, they started trumpeting, after which a large number of villagers gathered and summoned the forest authorities.The authorities found the bed of the water body slippery due to downpour.
