Everyone who has been to a movie hall and seen the no-smoking ad played before any film will remember the little girl who urges her father to quit the habit. The ad is a few years old and the girl, Simran Natekar , is little no more. In fact, she is all set to make her Kannada film debut, having made a mark in Bollywood already. Simran plays the title role in the upcoming flick Kajal , much of which was shot in Mysuru recently. “This was my first visit to Mysuru and, honestly, I had no idea that it would be so beautiful. I was truly astounded during our drive from Bengaluru to Mysuru. What struck me was the awesome weather and how clean the city is. The roads are good and the surroundings are beautiful,” says the young actress excitedly.During her stay in the city, Simran tried out all things quintessentially Mysuru. “First and foremost I went to the Palace; I absolutely loved the architecture and how well it has been maintained over the years. I also went to Chamundi Hills and was mesmerised by the view from the top. Not many people know that I’m a huge fan of idli and dosa, and being in Mysuru meant that I got to eat both all the time,” she says.As for her Sandalwood debut, Simran says, “I have been wanting to venture into the South film industry and the opportunity has come about now. When I was given a narration for Kajal, I quite liked the subject.”- Sridhar VG
