The BSP won 13 of the total 142 it contested.The major gains for SDPI came from Dakshina Kannada district, as it contested 24 seats here and won 11 -- 6 in Ullal, 4 in Bantwal and one in Puttur. “Now we want to contest all 28 parliamentary seats, but it depends on our national leaders,” he added. “It is remarkable progress for BSP in Karnataka as our vote share has gone up. For the first time, we have won outside Chamarajanagar,” primary and secondary education minister N Mahesh, the lone BSP member in the assembly, said.Mahesh attributed the success to him winning the assembly polls and being inducted into the cabinet.
