Stray horses kill woman in Mysuru

Mysuru: A woman selling leafy vegetables died after she was attacked by stray horses in Gayathripuram on Tuesday. The five stray horses were secured and shifted to a rescue centre.An eyewitness said Parvathamma of Muneshwara Nagar had been selling leafy vegetables in the locality for a long time. This comes weeks after a youth was injured near Mysuru Law Courts when a stray horse bit him.Eyewitnesses said the attack left Parvathamma, 55, badly bleeding in the head and face. We relocated the five horses to a rehabilitation centre.” He added that the issue would be brought to the MCC’s notice and explore possible help to the family. A case has to be registered to provide help but the family was reluctant to lodge a police complaint.

She informed passersby her sons’ phone numbers before falling unconscious. Blood was oozing out of her nose and she suffered severe head injuries.Though Parvathamma’s sons and an ambulance reached the spot quickly, she had breathed her last by then.Her family member didn’t register a police complaint and took away her body. The five stray horses were secured and shifted to a rescue centre.An eyewitness said Parvathamma of Muneshwara Nagar had been selling leafy vegetables in the locality for a long time. As usual, she was passing through Gayathripuram I Stage when stray horses which had loitering in the locality for the last few days came from different directions and attacked her.MCC veterinarian Dr SC Suresh said: “We offered the family help but they refused it. A case has to be registered to provide help but the family was reluctant to lodge a police complaint. We relocated the five horses to a rehabilitation centre.” He added that the issue would be brought to the MCC’s notice and explore possible help to the family.
