Shobha ready to fight from UdupiChikkamagaluru again

CHIKKAMAGALURU: Listing her contributions to the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency during her five-year term as an MP, senior BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje said that she would not shirk from picking up the gauntlet and contesting the upcoming elections from the same segment again should the party top brass decide to give her the ticket.Shobha said that, in the past four-and-a-half years, she had worked tirelessly towards developing Chikkamagaluru district. “Many railway and road projects have been completed in the district during my tenure. I have made efforts to ensure that farmers get a good price for their produce. I helped set up Kendriya Vidyalaya in the district. A skill development centre will be established at the Chikkamagaluru district headquarters. These are some of my major achievements,” said Shobha.Expressing confidence of the party’s belief in her abilities, Shobha added, “I am confident I will get the ticket to contest the election from the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency again. Since this seat lies in the region where the BJP is very strong, the number of candidates vying for the ticket is large. But, the party leadership will take a final decision on the candidature.”On social media campaigns that have sought to project her as an unpopular figure in the Lok Sabha constituency, Shobha said that the leaders were closely observing all activities in the state, and would take firm action against dissidents. The senior leader also chose the occasion to express her unwavering commitment to the party. “I will never work against the interests of the party, and have no quibbles with any of my leaders. Even if the party decides to give the ticket to another candidate, I will continue to work for the BJP. I am the general secretary of the BJP’s Karnataka unit, and will work with the discipline of a soldier for the party,” she added.Shobha added that the saffron party was eyeing a haul of 22 seats in Karnataka – the state sends 28 MPs to the Lok Sabha.
