Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation is going all out to encourage first-time voters to exercise their franchise this election. The pages of Mysuru City Corporation are very active on both Facebook and Instagram. The MCC has urged youngsters to upload selfie pictures with EPIC and tag the civic body. Individuals can upload their selfie with the card or take a group selfie with friends and upload it.Speaking to TOI, MCC commissioner Shilpa Nag said the selfie contest is organised to attract young voters. The civic body wants youngsters to spread awareness about voting.The entries for the selfie contest started on Thursday and selfies can be uploaded till April 12.

The civic agency has organised a “Selfie with EPIC” contest wherein the voters have to click their photos with their electoral photo identity card and post it on social media.As part of the contest, five lucky winners will also win exciting goodies. Individuals can now post selfie displaying their EPIC cards ( voter ID) and upload on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and then tag Mysuru City Corporation with #namma_matha_namma_hakku.The civic body has chosen the social media platform to woo the youngsters, especially the ones who are new voters. The pages of Mysuru City Corporation are very active on both Facebook and Instagram. While there are 10,000 followers on Facebook, there are nearly 2,500 followers on Instagram pages. The MCC has urged youngsters to upload selfie pictures with EPIC and tag the civic body. The civic body wants youngsters to spread awareness about voting.The entries for the selfie contest started on Thursday and selfies can be uploaded till April 12. The five lucky winners will be selected only at the end of the contest. Individuals can upload their selfie with the card or take a group selfie with friends and upload it.Speaking to TOI, MCC commissioner Shilpa Nag said the selfie contest is organised to attract young voters. “The contest is to remind people about the dates of the parliamentary election. While the hashtag #namma_matha_namma_hakku is to send a message on the importance of voting. Selfie craze is widespread among young generation and they will also know about the EPIC card when they take picture with it. Through word of mouth, more new voters will get their card done,” Nag said.The MCC social media handler told TOI that the contest is receiving a big response and they are expecting a total of 1,000 entries.BOXCyclothon on April 11, run on 13** As a part of the voting awareness campaign, Mysuru City Corporation is hosting a 10-kilometre cyclothon on April 11. The corporation will provide 450 trin trin cycles and interested individuals can also get their bicycles. The cyclothon will be flagged off the north gate of Mysuru Palace at 7.30am.**On April 13, MCC will organize a three kilometre run in the city. Any number of participants can register. The first 1,000 participants will receive T-shirts from the civic body. The registration is open for both the campaigns at Decathlon and Cyclopaedia.
