Karnataka needs a strong regional party, says Champa

Unless there is an amendment to the Constitution, no regional language will grow. Mysuru: The dream of building a regional political party in Karnataka is still alive, said Chandrashekar Patil , president of the 83rd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana , on Sunday.Four books penned by Champa , as he is popularly known, were re-printed and released by Ananya Publications at the Sharada Vilas College premises.Champa said, "There is need for a regional party in Karnataka. He turned his life into a revolution and that's how he could write, he added.Professor C Naganna spoke on the poetries of Champa. It is difficult to manage the state if it is governed by a national party . Bislehalli Prabhu spoke on Champa as a playwright.

It is difficult to manage the state if it is governed by a national party .""Despite being an English professor, I chose to pursue my literary career in Kannada. I started writing so that I could fill action into words. Kannada has been my life. The language, its essence and culture should be retained. It is our responsibility to retain that culture," he said.After releasing the books, writer activist Pa Mallesh said, "Regional languages in India are facing threat. Unless there is an amendment to the Constitution, no regional language will grow. The Gokak movement which led to the development of Kannada has stopped midway. Unfortunately, people are not ready to fight for Kannada."There is a need for revolution wherein people must demand amendments to the constitution. Champa stood in the forefront to fight for the language. He turned his life into a revolution and that's how he could write, he added.Professor C Naganna spoke on the poetries of Champa. Bislehalli Prabhu spoke on Champa as a playwright.
