98 persons rounded up from GMCH during special drive

Nagpur: Under a special drive, around 98 persons were rounded up for loitering on premises of Government Medical College and Hospital ( GMCH ) and quizzed at Ajni police station on Thursday. The meeting, attended by the senior police officials and GMCH authorities, was a follow-up to the high-level meeting at the office of the city police chief on Wednesday. Traffic police also conducted similar sweeping drives against illegally parked vehicles and vendors on the hospital premises and also near the gates.The special drives were initiated shortly after a coordination meeting held at the dean’s office. Officials of Maharashtra Security Force which guards the GMCH premises were also present.Police and GMCH authorities have made a joint appeal to citizens to look out for any suspicious items and alert the control room by dialling ‘100’.Similar meeting is also slated to take place at Mayo and Daga hospital shortly between police and government’s health department officials. The aim was to address certain common issues of the police department and GMCH authorities.GMCH patients being whisked away by private hospitals and ambulances, anti-social activities and illegal parking were among the crucial issues taken up for discussion in the meeting chaired by GMCH dean Abhimanyu Niswade and Zonal DCP Nilesh Bharne, traffic DCP S Chaitanya and senior police inspectors including PI Shailesh Sankhe of Ajni police station.
