‘1.50 lakh women affected by breast cancer every year in India, 70,000 die’

“Every year, 1.50 lakh women are affected by breast cancer in India. Nagpur: A breast cancer detection camp was organised at Tigaon village by Dattapur Centre of Start Organisation recently. A portable cancer detecting machine was also installed at the centre and was inaugurated by Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Dayawanti Balvir. This portable machine accurately and speedily detects breast cancer helping start of immediate treatment. Dr Manisha Rewatkar and Dr Atul Raghtate explained the importance of the portable cancer detecting machine.

Dr Manisha Rewatkar and Dr Atul Raghtate explained the importance of the portable cancer detecting machine. “Every year, 1.50 lakh women are affected by breast cancer in India. In the 60 percent cases, cancer is detected at an advanced stage which reduces five year life expectancy by 52 percent. 70,000 women die of the deadly disease every year. This portable machine accurately and speedily detects breast cancer helping start of immediate treatment. There is no radiation risk and is totally painless method,” the doctors said. The breast cancer detection camp was organised under the guidance of Start Secretary Usha Patil and Liya Pyatison. Social workers Rajesh Patil, Puja Aate, Sudha Patil and nurse Priya Jagtap worked hard for success of the camp A health check-up camp was also organised at Vandevi Nagar by the Start Organisation. Doctors and nurses of Dalvi Smile and Research Centre extended their help in checking the women and distributed medicines. The Start Organisation, striving for empowering women, organises various camps every month.
