Hits of Shankar-Jaikishan, Ravindra Jain captivate spectators

(Reporting by Manshika Vaikkath) Nagpur: Tunes of popular Indian composer duo Shankar-Jaikishan and Ravindra Jain reverberated the air at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on Monday.Swaratarang Music Academy presented a string of solo and duet performances on the hit songs of the acclaimed music directors.Leading the show was Niranjan Bobde, who had also conceptualized the event, with the song ‘Ehsaan tera hoga’. Susheel Tiwari anchored the show.

Mendhi presented melody queen Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘Chitthiye ni dard firaaq’ and duets with Bobde on ‘Husn pahadon ka kya kehna’ and ‘Der na ho jaaye kahi’.Pandavkar’s presented ‘Ek Radha ek Meera’ and duets with Bobde on ‘Jab deep jale aana’, ‘Pyar hua ikrar hua’, ‘Jhumta mausam mast mahina’ and one of Kishore Kumar’s most famous songs ‘Aap yaha aaye kis liye’.Bobde continued to display his singing prowess with ‘Jhanak jhanak tori baje payaliya’, ‘Ram teri Ganga maili’, ‘Gum uthane ke liye’, ‘Jaane kaha gaye woh’, ‘Aye bhai zara dekh ke’ and ‘Kaun hai jo sapno mein aaya’.‘Bhavare ki gunjan hai’ and ‘Zindagi ek safar hai’, performed by Anil Gulhane, was well-received by the audience.Bhalachandra Welankiwar received a thunderous applause from the listeners for his performance of ‘Ruk ja o jaanewale’.Bobde concluded the event with power-packed performances on songs like ‘Badan pe sitare’, ‘Chahe koi mujhe junglee kahe’ and ‘An evening in Paris’.The accompanying artistes were Parimal Joshi and Mangesh Patle (keyboard), Pravin Lihitkar (bass guitar), Pankaj Yadav (tabla), Subhash Wankhede (octopad) and Deepak Kamble (dholak).
