In the past, individual gangsters like Maroti Nuwa have been booked for the offence. The activities of Meshram and Maskare came to light after Lakadganj police were alerted by one of the witnesses in the murder case of 13-year-old boy who was allegedly beheaded by Durgesh Chaudhari alias Challa in October 2017.Chaudhari, a serial killer, has been named in at least four murder cases apart from other serious crimes, including dacoity. He was also externed for two years. Chaudhari had been earlier slapped with Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act. After his release, Chaudhari committed at least two out of the four murders in which he has been named so far.He said Chaudhari too would be included in the offence.Senior PI Santosh Khandekar said the witness in the murder case did not buckle under the pressure of the goons. “Meshram and Maskare have so far claimed that they were trying to help Chaudhari and also others out of friendship,” he said.“The two also had information about the cases and dates when the witnesses would appear in court,” said Khandekar.Khandekar also said that the duo has been booked under section 195(A) of the Indian Penal Code for threatening witnesses and Chaudhari too would be booked.
