Nagpur: Despite it being a weekday, Tuesday evening saw many music lovers making a beeline towards Scientific Society Hall at Laxmi Nagar as Kanak Sur Mandir paid tributes to music directors, actors and many other yesteryear legends of film industry in a concert titled ‘Guzra Hua Zamana’.Professionals from different fields put together a full house show. The musical evening was conceptualized by Datta Harkare and compèred by Shweta Shelgaonkar.The audience started cheering instantly when singer Kanaka Gadkari began singing ‘Hava havai’, which was a tribute to actress Sridevi. The evening took off with ‘Saiyyan dil mein aana re’ and ‘Aye meri zohra jabeen’ which were sung in memory of Shamshad Begum and Manna Dey respectively.Songs of celebrated lyricists and music directors like Anand Bakshi, OP Nayyar and Jagjeet Singh were sung. ‘Kisi raah mein kisi mod par’, ‘Tumko dekha toh yeh khayal aaya’ and ‘Isharon isharon mein dil lene waale’ got a huge round of applause.Duet songs like ‘Itna na mujhse tu pyar jata’, ‘Yaad kiya dil ne’, ‘Humne jo dekhe sapne’ and ‘Ye raatein ye mausam nadi ka kinara’ were a few of the most appreciated songs by the audience. The simple lyrics and catchy tunes of ‘Akhiyon ke jharokon se’ and ‘Pal pal dil ke pas’ made everyone sing along and clap in sync.Other tracks like ‘Naino mein badra chhaye’, ‘Chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko’, ‘Zindagi kaisi hai paheli haaye’ and ‘Ruk ja raat theher ja re chanda’ brought out the essence an array of emotions portrayed beautifully on screen by maestros like Rajkumar, Meena Kumari, Sadhana and Sunil Dutt. The concert ended with a perfect rendition of ‘Jaane kahan gaye woh din’.Singers Anuja Kedar, Sharmila Charalwar, Lakshman Bodade, Sachin Itwale, Prakash Kulkarni and Datta Harkare lent their voices to recreate the magic of some of the most touching songs and paid their heartfelt tributes.
