Nagpur: Constable Nikhil Shegaonkar, 30, posted at rural police headquarters at Lal Godam, was booked for outraging modesty of a 26-year-old woman colleague when he allegedly tried to harass her near PWS college on Kamptee road on February 17. The offence was registered at Jaripatka police station on Monday.The survivor, posted at Kalmeshwar police station, approached the cops stating that Shegaonkar had misbehaved with her on the road after intercepting her two-wheeler as she was heading for duty. She had earlier approached Kondhali police station too but no offence was registered.It is learnt that the survivor and Shegaonkar had known each other since last few years as they were preparing for police recruitment. The survivor got selected in 2014. She continued to support Shegaonkar in various ways including his lifestyle and accessories. As per her statement, she had spent almost Rs4.50 lakh on Shegaonkar.Sources from police station stated the survivor was committed to Shegaonkar to such an extent that she even concealed facts about her salary from her family. She had told the family she was getting just Rs12,000 per month while her actual salary was much more.Shegaonkar too got selected in police department in 2017 and is now in the reserve force at headquarters.Shegaonkar refused to marry the survivor when she started pressing him to tie the nuptial knot. That led to a dispute. Survivor is learnt to have approached the police. When Shegaonkar learnt of her intention to lodge a complaint he told her he was ready to marry her. But the lady was upset when she learnt he had agreed only to avoid legal complications. She then started avoiding Shegaonkar.Angered by her defiance, Shegaonkar started harassing the survivor. She approached the Jaripatka police station after Shegaonkar tried to make undue advances towards her on the road.
