Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s governance policy was impeccable: Expert

NAGPUR: The governance policy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was impeccable which ensured that no discrimination existed on the basis of caste and religion. He was respected by the prosperous and the underprivileged alike, said Ravindra Patil, president of Itihaas Prabodhan Sanstha, on Tuesday.Shivaji Maharaj was a benevolent ruler who had a practical vision. He acted ruthlessly against those officers who indulged in corruption and oppression, Patil said while delivering a lecture on ‘Thorla raja sangoon gela’, organized by Nagpur University at its Convocation Hall. He was an effective organizer and a successful military strategist having remarkable power to assemble a formidable force.”Yeole reminded the gathering of the managerial and administrative skills of Shivaji Maharaj and stressed on his philosophy and urged the people to follow his footsteps.The programme was conducted by Shyam Korati. Khaty proposed a vote of thanks.

The lecture was organized to mark the 389th birth anniversary of the great Maratha ruler.Pro vice-chancellor Pramod Yeole presided over the function while registrar Niraj Khaty was the guest of honour.Patil connected the dots between the tenure of the legendary king and the present, and said, “The most extraordinary thing about Shivaji Maharaj was that he gave top priority to border control which is relevant even in today’s times. The Maratha king is revered as a supreme ruler and a staunch patriot who always safeguarded the interests of the country.”Shivaji Maharaj protected women and ensured that they were not subjected to disrespect or dishonour, Patil said.Earlier, a moment of silence was observed by the assembly of people to pay homage to the jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who died in a terrorist attack at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir In his presidential address, Yeole said, “Even the younger generation is filled with a sense of inspiration at the very mention of the great king’s name.
