Friends resort to theft to boost their earning, arrested

While Vishwakarma used to steal the bikes with a ‘master key’, Sonare used to sell them to buyers in rural areas such as Umred, Kuhi, Gondia and others. Police also recovered around 14 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs6.65 lakh from them.According to police, Vishwakarma, who works at a private company, and Sonare, who is unemployed, used to live together as friends earlier. When both got married few years back, the burden of their household came on their shoulders. Both used to target two-wheelers parked at crowded places like Sitabuldi, Wadi and others, police said.The crime branch started keeping eye on their activities which led the team to their arrest. Nagpur: Unable to fulfil the day-to-day needs of his family with the earning of just Rs7,500 per month, a 22-year-old youth along with his accomplice resorted to a second ‘job’ — theft.This second ‘job’, however, landed them into police net when both, Saurabh Vishwakarma and his friend Pravin Sonare, 23, were on Friday arrested by a team of the city crime branch. Police also recovered around 14 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs6.65 lakh from them.According to police, Vishwakarma, who works at a private company, and Sonare, who is unemployed, used to live together as friends earlier. The duo are also learnt to be alcoholic and chain smokers, so fulfilling their respective families’ needs with their petty earnings became impossible for them, police said, adding the financial crisis led to regular tension between Vishwakarma and his wife.Sonare, who belong to a poor family, was unemployed and got married just a year ago.Following which, the duo decided to start stealing two-wheelers.
