U-turn: Exam director told to visit controversial college

Nagpur: Days after its inquiry panel gave a clean chit to Ramkrishna Wagh College, the Nagpur University (NU) administration has asked the director of examinations and evaluation Niraj Khaty to personally visit the controversial college at Bokhara and inspect facilities provided to students during examinations. Eventually, the NU administration admitted that not everything was well at the centre and decided to cut the number of examinees to 300 per shift.Now, it has come to fore that the college was not an exam centre because of deficiencies and allegations against it. They haven’t answer any of TOI’s queries on the issue.

Nagpur: Days after its inquiry panel gave a clean chit to Ramkrishna Wagh College, the Nagpur University (NU) administration has asked the director of examinations and evaluation Niraj Khaty to personally visit the controversial college at Bokhara and inspect facilities provided to students during examinations. Surprisingly, Khaty is yet to visit or even intimate the college about his visit.The instructions were given after the NU administration faced flak from several quarters over its inaction against the college despite photographs and video being submitted to it along with complaints.Vice chancellor SP Kane and Khaty didn’t answer to TOI’s calls and sms. They haven’t answer any of TOI’s queries on the issue. Officials blamed the VC and the director of going ‘soft on the errant college’ even after serious allegations surfacing against it.Though a video showing mass copying at the centre was submitted to NU officials last month, another set of complaint was received by the university on March 2.TOI has been reporting about the problems faced by hundreds of students at the college which is exam centre for mainly for Tayawade College at Koradi and other nearby institutes. The college had been getting over 400 students in one shift from different courses for university exam from this year. Between March 5 and 22, over 1,000 students were made to sit on the floor in an under construction building of the exam centre.Though the panel had initially given clean chit, TOI had reported how the centre lacked even a main entrance gate or security guards during the crucial summer exams. Eventually, the NU administration admitted that not everything was well at the centre and decided to cut the number of examinees to 300 per shift.Now, it has come to fore that the college was not an exam centre because of deficiencies and allegations against it.
