Local police had interrogated over 100 persons including Anil Nair, Umesh Gupta and a notorious gangster. Interestingly, Anil Nair, Director of Pioneer Construction Company, had also a scheme behind the Society’s plot. According to information, the CBI had submitted an application in the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate M T Kharade seeking permission to conduct brain mapping, polygraph and narco tests on Anil Nair and Umesh Gupta. Agreeing to the arguments, the Judge Kharade directed the CBI to conduct the tests on Nair and Gupta within three months. The court further directed the medical tests of Nair and Gupta before the three tests in the presence of their lawyers.

The senior architect was shot dead in 2016 over alleged property dispute Nagpur: The sensational murder of senior architect Eknath Nimgade is likely to be cracked as a court has granted permission to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct brain mapping, polygraph and narco tests on suspects Anil Nair, Director of Pioneer Construction Company, and builder Umesh Prakashchandra Gupta. The permission by court was granted after both Nair and Gupta gave their consent to the tests. It is pertinent to recall that an unidentified masked assailant on September 6, 2016, pumped bullets on the senior architect and valuer Eknath Nimgade from close range at a spot near Lal Imli Square, Gandhibagh. The septuagenarian, who sustained five bullets injuries, was later declared dead at Mayo hospital. Nimgade was returning home after strolling at Gandhibagh Garden. The murder of the senior architect had created ripples in city. During initial investigation, property dispute was being suspected as the reason for his murder. Prima facie police suspected that the murder could be the fallout of a property dispute over a five-and-half acre land on Wardha Road. Supari killing angle was also being probed by the cops. However, due to shabby investigation by local cops and persistent demand by family of deceased Nimgade, the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court had ordered CBI probe into the murder. The central agency has been probing the murder case since the past one and half year. Local police had interrogated over 100 persons including Anil Nair, Umesh Gupta and a notorious gangster. But no breakthrough could be achieved as clues eluded the cops. According to information, the CBI had submitted an application in the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate M T Kharade seeking permission to conduct brain mapping, polygraph and narco tests on Anil Nair and Umesh Gupta. The CBI lawyer Adv Prakash Jaiswal stressed that the tests were a must for digging out the truth. Agreeing to the arguments, the Judge Kharade directed the CBI to conduct the tests on Nair and Gupta within three months. The court further directed the medical tests of Nair and Gupta before the three tests in the presence of their lawyers. In 1980, the deceased Nimgade and his six friends had formed a society named Indian Citizen Welfare Multipurpose Society. Nimgade was Secretary. The Society had negotiated a deal with a person named Siddiqui to purchase 5500 acre land. However, a dispute arose and the land could not be made in the name of the Society. Subsequently, the matter reached Supreme Court which gave a ruling in favour of the Society. Interestingly, Anil Nair, Director of Pioneer Construction Company, had also a scheme behind the Society’s plot. Similarly, builder Umesh Gupta’s Green Leverage Company had also floated a scheme in the same area. A road for going to the Pioneer scheme was constructed through the Society’s plot of land. Nimgade had raised strong objection to the road. But he was being pressured to come to the terms and was also being threatened to do so. After the cold-blooded murder of Nimgade, names of builder s Anil Nair, Umesh Gupta and owner of travel agency Maqsood Ali Siddiqui who had been dealing with Eknath had come to the fore among others.
