Stray dog menace continue to bite Nagpurians, 7-year-old injured in Timki

Nagpur: The menace of stray dogs continue to haunt Nagpurians with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) drastically failing to curb the ever growing problem. Officials Taking Poll ExcuseTalking to Nagpur Today, a local source said, “The problems with stray dogs are quite common in the locality. At around 2.30 pm a stray dog from the neighborhood pounced on Bhavesh and mauled his head. However, the apathy of the NMC officials proved costly for a seven year-old boy who was severely injured after a stray dog mauled his face and head in Timki area on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite several complaints been lodged with NMC till date, the administration blatantly turned blind eye towards the persisting menace. However, the apathy of the NMC officials proved costly for a seven year-old boy who was severely injured after a stray dog mauled his face and head in Timki area on Wednesday afternoon. The boy was later rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). He is currently under observation at Trauma Centre. The Frightening Bite Bhavesh Rajesh Geogune (7), a resident of Sant Ravidas Mata Mandir locality was playing outside his home on Tuesday afternoon. At around 2.30 pm a stray dog from the neighborhood pounced on Bhavesh and mauled his head. Bhavesh tried to escape but the 7-year-old couldn’t manage to overpower the dog. Listening to Bhavesh’s cries some locals rushed to his help. followed which the dog ran away, but till that time he had left severe marks on Bhavesh’s head and face. Subsequently, Bhavesh was rushed to GMCH, where he is monitored at Trauma Centre. Officials Taking Poll Excuse Talking to Nagpur Today, a local source said, “The problems with stray dogs are quite common in the locality. We have given several memorandums to NMC and even Mayor, but we have always been returned with blank assurance. Officials pretends to be too busy in election works and ignore people’s plight.” Ridiculous Resolution When Nagpur Today took matter to NMC veterinary doctor Gajendra Mahalle, he said, “Followed by the complaints of the locals we have a sent a team to catch the dog on Wednesday. However, as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court (SC), we have to sterilize the dog and release it at the same spot.” On asking how by doing so will solve the problems of dog bites, Mahalle backed on SCs order which prohibits them to initiate any sort of action against the stray dogs.
