NAGPUR: The Nagpur bench of Bombay high court (HC) on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Congress corporator Harish Gwalbanshi. He was told to furnish cash surety of Rs1 lakh, along with and two solvent securities. His case was listed before a single-judge bench of justice Zaka Haq. On June 12, he was granted interim protection till June 27.The corporator knocked the judiciary's doors through counsels Rafiq Akbani and Prakash Jaiswal after a retired officer lodged a complaint of land grabbing. He claimed that land grabbed by the petitioner belonged to the tribal Kirnake family. The complaint was filed by retired assistant police constable Babarao Dhomne after Dilip Gwalbanshi was arrested.Public prosecutor Deepak Thakre opposed petitioner's prayer contending that several cases were pending against him. He pointed out that tribal land can't be sold to non-tribals. The disputed land is situated at Dhaba on Katol Road.Gwalbanshi's counsels strongly countered Thakre's claims arguing that the entire complaint was false and fabricated and was filed with an ulterior motive to grab the land.
