Nanded wake-up call for BJP: Ajit Pawar

  • | Saturday | 14th October, 2017

The state government failed to explain how 20 lakh farmers have been dropped from the list," Pawar said. Earlier he said 89 lakh beneficiaries of loan waiver but the number dropped to just 69 lakh in final list. In the state, Fadnavis is not able to explain the delay in providing the promised loan waiver to farmers before Diwali. More surprising is that he is not even able to tell how many farmers will actually get the loan waiver. They are citing coal shortage as reason for the 2000MW shortfall in power generation and enforcing compulsory outage," said Pawar.

Nagpur: Nanded municipal corporation results should serve as a wake-up call for the BJP-Sena government in the state, said former deputy chief minister and NCP stalwart Ajit Pawar He said the Devendra Fadnavis government miserably failed to control power situation, implement farm loan waiver and also failed to control the deaths of farmers from pesticides spraying.Pawar was in the city along with the party's state president Sunil Tatkare and women's wing chief Chitra Wagh to review organizational work in the district units. He also opened the party office at Ganeshpeth here on Friday."Voters always prefer better alternatives. This time they preferred the opposition party (read Congress) to BJP-Sena alliance in the municipal election. More or less there should be same situation in the state and the Centre in 2019 elections," Pawar said.He said six months ago, there was a debate whether the opposition would have any chance to win elections even in 2024. "But the tide has definitely turned and in last three months, the Modi government at the Centre and Fadnavis rule in the state have been exposed. The opposition parties are now clearly regaining ground and the days of the BJP rule seem to be numbered," said Pawar.Later, speaking at a 'Meet the Press' event organized at the new Press Club of Nagpur, Pawar accused the government of creating artificial shortage of electricity leading to stringent load-shedding regime across the state. "I was the power minister. I know coal has to be stocked at thermal power plants well in time before onset of rainy season since coal mines can get shut by rains. But it looks like the present government forgot to do that precisely. They are citing coal shortage as reason for the 2000MW shortfall in power generation and enforcing compulsory outage," said Pawar. He sought thorough inquiry into the matter and stern action against those responsible for the mess."Be it demonetization, GST implementation and the gaur aksha violence, the Modi government has failed on every front. In the state, Fadnavis is not able to explain the delay in providing the promised loan waiver to farmers before Diwali. More surprising is that he is not even able to tell how many farmers will actually get the loan waiver. Earlier he said 89 lakh beneficiaries of loan waiver but the number dropped to just 69 lakh in final list. The state government failed to explain how 20 lakh farmers have been dropped from the list," Pawar said.
