“Showers are expected to be moderate over Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune and Nanded,” says private weather forecast website skymet. Nashik recorded 26mm rain on Wednesday. done...Nashik: After receiving flash rains on Wednesday, the district remained mostly dry on Thursday as the monsoon kept people waiting for major showers. The rain pattern since 2010 shows that the district receives less than the average rainfall in June every alternate year. Thus, light to moderate rain is occurring over central Maharashtra. Many parts of Maharashtra will start receiving good rains due to active monsoon conditions in another 48 hours,” said Mankar. The rain in the remaining 10 days of the month is, however, not expected to recover the 62% deficit.

done...Nashik: After receiving flash rains on Wednesday, the district remained mostly dry on Thursday as the monsoon kept people waiting for major showers. The rain pattern since 2010 shows that the district receives less than the average rainfall in June every alternate year. This year, by June 20, the district has received 45.37mm rain, which suggests below normal rainfall in the month so far.“The June rainfall pattern of Nashik district in the past eight to nine years suggests that the city has been receiving excess rain during the odd years and below normal rains in even years,” said R B Mankar, senior official from the local weather observatory.Historically, the years when Nashik has received below normal rains in June had been monsoon deficient years for the district/state. This year, Nashik has been far the worst-affected district in state, with 62% deficiency in rainfall in the June 1-20 time-period.“If we apply the odd-even formula to the total seasonal rainfall, it roughly suggests that the district has received either below normal or near-normal rains in total monsoon season during the even years, while normal or excess rains during the odd years,” Mankar said. “Only the year 2015 has been an exception to this,” he added.Though the rain was deficient till June 20 this year, the IMD has forecast that the monsoon will revive in the next few days.“A cyclonic circulation has developed over south Konkan and Goa and the off-shore trough is extending from Maharashtra to Kerala coast. Thus, light to moderate rain is occurring over central Maharashtra. Nashik recorded 26mm rain on Wednesday. Many parts of Maharashtra will start receiving good rains due to active monsoon conditions in another 48 hours,” said Mankar. The rain in the remaining 10 days of the month is, however, not expected to recover the 62% deficit. “Showers are expected to be moderate over Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune and Nanded,” says private weather forecast website skymet.
