done...Nashik: The civic administration on Thursday clarified that the meeting with Ganesh mandals it had planned a few days ago was a ‘preparation meeting’ to provide information about the rules and regulations.“It was a preparation meeting. Since the mandals did not let it happen we had to publish a notification of rules and regulations,” said municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.There were arguments about the right of the commissioner to organise meeting of Ganesh mandals.Mundhe said there was no rule about who should be conducting the meeting but everywhere else the municipal commissioner conducted the meeting.The commissioner added that as per the court order, roads and footpaths cannot be closed or blocked, noise pollution rules should be observed, environment should be protected, hoarding tax should be charged, and there should be no digging of roads.“The guidelines say that the festival should be conducted without disrupting normal life,” he said.“We cannot permit Ganesh idol stalls in silent zones... People take idols home with loud music. Even normal people are at times affected by DJs and can fall sick, and the civil hospital has ill persons,” Mundhe said.Meanwhile, mayor Ranjana Bhansi said she was planning to conduct a meeting with the Ganesh mandals in a few days.
