Two women lose lives in separate accidents

Nashik: Two women were killed in two separate incidents in city on Friday, police said.A 75-year-old woman died when she was knocked down by a motorcyclist near Meenatai Thackeray stadium on Nashik-Dhule road. The complaint was registered by Amol Khade, resident of Satpur with the Satpur police station on Wednesday. A case in this regard was registered at Panchavati police station.The accident occurred below the flyover where there are separate lanes for the traffic flowing through the city. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.The motorcyclist however fled from the spot. The deceased woman, identified as Gayabai Kharote, hails from Old Adgaon Naka area.

Police said that she was trying to cross the road at 8:15 pm on Wednesday when the incident took place.“The woman was crossing the road under the elevated highway towards Hirawadi, when a motorcyclist coming from Adgaon Naka knocked her down,” police said.The woman received severe injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.The motorcyclist however fled from the spot. A case in this regard was registered at Panchavati police station.The accident occurred below the flyover where there are separate lanes for the traffic flowing through the city. The situation is worse near KK Wagh College, Amrutdham or other crossroads where there is no flyover for the speeding vehicles to pass.“The sensitisation of motorists is a must and hence the demand of keeping the high speed motors out of the city is on the rise. The superbikes or the sports utility vehicles are very dangerous for the pedestrians,” Sujeet Kale, resident of the area, said.In another incident, 36-year-old Sindhubai Nagesh Khade, was killed when she fell from a motorcycle and received severe injuries in her head.The motorcycle on which Khade was a pillion rider was moving towards Satpur from ITI. When near Hotel Ginger, the driver lost control over the vehicle, both of them fell down. The incident took place on Tuesday. The woman was seriously injured. She was admitted to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.A complaint about the mishap and rash driving has been registered against the motorist, Chaudhary. The complaint was registered by Amol Khade, resident of Satpur with the Satpur police station on Wednesday.
