Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has formed a committee to look into the functioning of two private hospitals dealing with dengue and swine flu cases. The committee will also inquire into the allegation of showing wrong dengue test results raised against a private laboratory. This week two hospitals came under scanner for allegedly giving false reports or hiding facts while dealing with cases of dengue and swine flu.Medical superintendent of the NMC’s public health department, Rahul Gaikwad said, “We have formed a committee of three doctors to inspect these two hospitals. We are also inquiring into the allegations raised against a lab where a patient had taken dengue test.”He added, “As per a government resolution, only Elisa test should be done for dengue suspects.”Meanwhile, Munna Shaikh had gone to a private hospital in Panchavati where his NS-1 (non-structural protein 1) test showed positive indications. This test is not valid for determining dengue. The patient alleged that he was told by the hospital staff that he was suffering from dengue. When he took the test at another lab, he was tested negative for the disease. The health department also said, contrary to what Shiv Sena claimed, that there were stocks of medicine available.“There is no shortage of medicines. We have 1,100 Tamiflu medicines of 75 mg, 100 of 45 mg, and 500 of 30 mg. Total we have 1,700 medicines. Wherever there are screening centres, these medicines are available. About 1,200 medicines are available in various hospitals. Very few tablets of Tamiflu are needed and only for a season,” Gaikwad said, adding that 112 bottles were available for small children. He further said that as per the observation of the department, the incidences of swine flu went down as the temperature dipped. Hence, the number of patients will reduce by October-end.
