Nashik: A section of corporators have accused the civic administration being biased towards developing parts of the city. They claimed that areas like Gangapur Road and College Road are being developed and the old city areas are neglected. The miffed corporators have petitioned the standing committee chairperson to ensure that projects demanded by them are approved. They said that the ‘bias’ was causing disparity in balanced development of the city.“We have been demanding a jogging track in my ward in Panchavati area, but it has not yet been approved. Even cycle sharing facility has been started in the plush areas of the city. The residents of my ward also belong to this city and they also pay taxes,” said corporator Uddhav Nimse. “Why such projects are being done only in College Road, Gangapur Road etc? Why not in Panchavati? We need overall development for the city,” he said.He added that there were maximum open spaces in ward no. 2, but no compound wall was constructed till date.“People across the country visit Panchavati for religious activities. But this kind of development shows imbalance and disparity,” Nimse said.Corporator Shantabai Shelke seconded his opinion saying that there was no facility for jogging track owing to which children roamed around beside gutters.“Does Nashik Road not focus in the three-pronged development of the city?” asked corporator Santosh Salve. He said that Nashik Road was much neglected and no development was being done there. The issue came up for discussion during the standing committee meeting on Friday when a proposal for chain link fencing and other works in a jogging track in Ambad was being discussed.
