He observed that of the 240 patients taken in during the year for the treatment of swine flu, 210 walked out hale and hearty."Addressing the doctors and the patients, the director underlined the need to start the treatment for fighting swine flu in the early stage so as to avoid complications. The responsibility of treatment lies with both, the patients and the medical fraternity. Neither should the patient take fever and cough lightly nor should the doctors waste time in treating the patient," Jagdale said. The director also asked the civil and rural hospitals to raise awareness about swine flu and its symptoms that were not very different from a general flu. "It has been observed that there is an inordinate delay in reaching to the medical practitioners by the patient themselves. Rising awareness among them could help in improving the situation, he hoped," Jagdale said.
