NASHIK: Technical snags in the electrical equipment have rendered the laser show at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Van Udyan out of use.The laser show is discontinued during monsoon . When officials of the Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (FDCML) tried starting the shows again in October, they found that voltage fluctuation during monsoon resulted in techniacl snags in the the electronic and electrical equipment used for running the laser show. The officials have communicated the problem to the agency that was incharge of operations and maintenance. They have assured that the shows would resume soon.An NMC official informed, "We have been taking up the issue of resuming laser shows with FDCML since the last two months and recently had a meeting with them on Wednesday. The equipment of the laser show has to be covered during the four months of monsoon. The maintenance period of the agency which installed the equipment got over. Some spare parts are required for conducting trials. Some electric and electronic parts have become defunct for which experts from abroad will have to be roped in for the repair works that will entail an ependiture of Rs 12 to 15 lakhs. FDCML has been following up the issue with persons maintaning the machinery and also demanded a grant from their office. It has been decided that FDCML will manage the show, take the revenue and also maintain it."The officer further said that directions have been issued to FDCML to start the work and that it would take around a month to complete the repair works.FDCML range forest officer Pravin Damale informed that the contract got over last December and that FDMCL ran the show from January to mid-June."Chances are that the contract will be renewed with the same company-Guardian Entertainment. We took training from Guardian Entertainment in February on how to run the show. We had renewed their contract for a month. The show was closed for four months on account of monsoon. Some servicing had to be done before starting the show. We couldn't conduct the servicing in October since many electrical parts had become non-functional. We have spoken to the manager of Guardian Entertainment and expect to come up with a solution within two three days."Touted to be a first-of-its-kind botanical garden with the largest light, sound and laser show in South East Asia, the botanical garden was inaugurated by actor Nana Patekar and other Marathi actors in the presence of MNS chief Raj Thackeray in December 2016.
