The action of the civic administration did not go well with the organisation according to which no notice was served before sealing the hall.NMC officials, however, said that they had issued notices to the organisation for making the nominal payment to it as per the agreement. The organisation said that the agreement did not mention any date and hence there should be no hike in the fees. Also, as per NMC’s policy, we sent notices to all organisations that do not have agreement with NMC, to pay rent as per 2.5 percent of ready reckoner rate. We had given opportunity to them to give letter and we would check the documents. They are saying that there was nothing mentioned as such in the agreement. We asked them to furnish the agreement as they are saying that the agreement does not have any period mentioned. But it cannot be so as every agreement has a time frame.”Another NMC officer said that the organisation charged heftily from people to impart training.“They charged Rs 60,000 from one person. NMC has panchanama of that person,” said the officer.Jayprakash Jategaonkar, chairperson of the organisation denied charging anything for training.“We do not take any money for training. If anyone gives donation, we give proper receipt. We train children for free. People in the locality are saying that a watchman should be appointed. We don’t have the revenue to appoint watchman. We pay the rent to NMC, water and electric bills,” Jategaonkar said.He added that in July 2016, NMC had asked some documents from the organisation which they already furnished.“They had sent us a letter then. Accordingly, we gave all the necessary documents including the copy of agreement to NMC,” Jategaonkar said.
