NASHIK: A leopard has reportedly been spotted on Saturday in the upmarket Serene Meadows on Gangapur Road — barely 1.5km away from the Savarkarnagar area where a leopard was trapped last week.Locals informed the forest department about a leopard strolling near Serene Meadows in the afternoon. Following this, a team of forest officials visited the spot for inspection.On Friday, the forest department had laid cages in Govardhan village area to trap the big cat . “We have installed two cages. People had been complaining about a leopard attacking their animals. The leopard was captured on CCTV camera as well. Two trap cameras were installed by us and the leopard was spotted on these cameras as well,” range forest officer (RFO) Ravindra Bhoge said, adding that a pet dog was killed in a leopard attack near YCMOU.A leopard reportedly attacked and killed a dog belonging to a farmer, Ramesh Tile, in Govardhan area on January 30. The incident was captured on CCTV camera. Later, the forest department inspected the area and installed a cage after finding the pug marks.Residents of Pimpalgaon Bahula have also reported to the forest department of a leopard attacking domestic animals. A leopard killed a dog at Ganesh Bodke’s farm near Trimbak Vidya Mandir on Trimbakeshwar Road. The forest department inspected the area and laid a trap.On Friday, the forest department got a call from people residing near Motiwala College, off Gangapur Road informing them about the carcass of a leopard cub. On visiting the spot, the forest department confirmed that it was a wild cat.
