There are about 64,372 farmers in the district who will benefit from the process.“At present, the launch has opened up the chances for the government and the machinery to understand the issues faced by the users and the possible solutions to the same, so that the application can be launched across the state for every consumer,” a senior officer from the district administration said.Of the 7/12 Records of Rights (RoR), extract of a land parcel, the section 12 brings out all the information about crops. In case of disaster or calamities, the government would be in a position to process the relief amount and pass it on to the farmers account using the same data.“Currently, in case of drought, the village accountant is made to rush through the farms, do the panchanama, which takes a lot of time and then the data is sent to the government. At times, the data sent by the talathi does not match with the records, leading to ‘discrepancies’, which restricts the government from passing the aid to the beneficiary,” the officer pointed out.In this case, the farmer himself has to fill in the blanks and click the picture from his mobile phone, which picks up the coordinates of global positioning satellite (GPS).About 50 per cent of the inputs have to be verified by the talathi by visiting the places and ensuring the photographs and the data sent by the beneficiary were authentic. The divisional commissioner has appealed to the district administration and the agriculture department to carry out awareness among the farmers so that they could adapt the process at the earliest.
