Cleanliness camp held at Tapovan, workers felicitated

The ragpicker women were also felicitated for their contribution to cleanliness. This has stopped due to social activists creating awareness among the sanitary employees about avoiding the burning of waste. Nashik: A special cleanliness camp was held on Saturday morning from the Laxminarayan temple to the Kapila Sangam ghat at Tapovan by the civic administration.The civic administration is periodically conducting drives across the city as a part of the cleanliness mission, by taking up patches of different areas. This area is now significantly cleaner,” said divisional sanitary inspector Sanjay Darade.Eight women were felicitated for their outstanding work towards cleanliness in this area, on account of International Women’s Day, that was observed on March 8.

Nashik: A special cleanliness camp was held on Saturday morning from the Laxminarayan temple to the Kapila Sangam ghat at Tapovan by the civic administration.The civic administration is periodically conducting drives across the city as a part of the cleanliness mission, by taking up patches of different areas. In the last meeting of the health and medical assistance committee of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), it was resolved that all the black spots would be cleared at the earliest.On Saturday, the health department cleaned the roads near Laxminarayan temple, Sadhugram and the jogging track as well as the ghat area at Kapila Sangam. 150 students of the Shriram Mitra Mandal’s New Adgaon Naka School, ragpicker women, Nishikant Pagare, Yogesh Barve and other representatives of the Godavari Gatarikaran Virodhi Manch, actress Maya Khandve and others were present for the drive along with the sanitary workers of the NMC’s health department.“We undertake such drives periodically. We had cleaned the river bank of garbage and silt some days back. On Saturday, we chose the Tapovan area and transported the garbage from there to the municipal solid waste management plant. This area is now significantly cleaner,” said divisional sanitary inspector Sanjay Darade.Eight women were felicitated for their outstanding work towards cleanliness in this area, on account of International Women’s Day, that was observed on March 8. “These women were felicitated by actress Maya Khandve and Nishikant Pagare,” said Darade.Nishikant Pagare of the Godavari Gatarikaran Virodhi Manch said, “These underprivileged women have been taking the initiative to keep the premises of Tapovan clean while serving in the NMC. The ragpicker women were also felicitated for their contribution to cleanliness. It is due to them that this area is clean and beautiful.”Earlier, there used to be instances of waste-burning in this part of the city. This has stopped due to social activists creating awareness among the sanitary employees about avoiding the burning of waste. Now, there is a significant improvement in this locality.
