Civic staffer booked for possession of stamps

A few stamps of the NMC and certificates were found in his possession.Officials of the civil hospital said that they have registered a complaint with the Sarkarwada police station. Nashik: The Sarkarwada police have booked an NMC employee on the charges of cheating after a complaint was registered against him on late Friday night.The police said that the medical staff of the civil hospital found stamps of a civil surgeon and an additional civil surgeon in his possession.The Sarkwarwada police said that they were investigating the case. Subsequently, necessary action shall follow. The officials added that the concerned stamps, which were forged, could be used for issuing fake medical certificates, fitness certificates, certificate of illness etc.Police said that they were trying to find out since when did the concerned employee possess the stamps and if he had issued any certificates by using the stamps and putting fake signatures.Senior police officials said that the suspects would be intterogated and asked whether he has attested any certificates using the stamps. Civil Surgeon Suresh Jagdale of Nashik civil hospital told TOI that he received a phone call that someone employed with the NMC, who has the work of taking away unidentified dead bodies lying at the morgue of the civil hospital, had certain stamps of civil surgeon and additional civil surgeon.Soon after receiving the call, senior officials of the civil hospital rushed to the post-mortem division on the premises of the civil hospital and started frisking the suspect.
