Civic body crosses target for pulse polio vaccine

Nashik: The civic administration had set a target of 1,82,596 children to be administered the pulse polio dose by March 15. Total 2,246 employees were involved in the process of administering the dose for children aged 0-5 years. It has crossed the target figure, officials said.In a single day, on March 10, during the drive across the city, the dose was administered to 1,42,694 children. But the response was not as per the administration’s expectations, an official said.A total 694 booths were set up at various locations with 90 transit teams and 43 mobile teams. Mayor Ranjana Bhansi and civic chief Radhakrishna Game had inaugurated the drive.In order to achieve the target, NMC decided to send mobile staff for inspection and administering the doses to children who had not taken the doses earlier.

During March 11-15, the medical team of the NMC conducted a drive door-to-door drive.“After the drive on March 10, we inspected houses for three days and we could administer doses to 41,702 children including those in public places,” said medical superintendent of NMC, Rahul Gaikwad.He added that the mobile team had reached the children at the bus stops, roadsides, gardens, anganwadis, railway stations and every possible public place.
