Nashik: As many as 940 citizens have been roped in by the city police in its recently formed eyes and ears committee.“We have formed 47 committees under 13 police stations across the city. These members will move around in different parts of the city and work as the eyes and ears of the police,” a police officer said.Commissioner of police Vishwas Nangre-Patil said the concerned committee members have already started working in their respective areas. “Though the police patrol different parts of the city, the members of the committee will keep a watch in their respective areas,” he said.“The members will monitor places like chowks, market places, temples, gardens, jogging tracks, schools, colleges, residential societies and report everything that requires police attention,” he added.The 940 members spread all across the city will add to the strength of the police so that they can take necessary measures wherever possible. A senior police officer said that people easily come to know about different things happening around them.“Many a time, they simply keep the information limited to them considering that it is not their business and the police would eventually come to know about it,” he said.“However, if the police are informed about small things like some suspicious person renting a house, an abandoned vehicle or anything that they find wrong can be easily dealt with before it becomes a major problem,” he added.In view of all such things the police have formed a 940-member strong team that has already started working.
