Nashik: MP Hemant Godse, who had roped in the Indian Space Research Organisation to assist the district administration for scientific development of Nashik , has chalked out a priority list with agriculture at the top.A month ago, an ISRO team headed by its scientific secretary PG Diwakar held a meeting with the district administration."After the meeting, with the help of the district administration, we have proposed a priority list and sent it to the ISRO. They will finalise the list in consultation with us," Godse said.Since the exercise was new and it was being carried out on a pilot basis, the administration and the ISRO will have to take utmost care in finalising the memorandum of understanding. Therefore, it will take some time, the MP said.Godse said agriculture topped his priority list. "We aim for every farm having access to water and electricity, logistical support, infrastructure, and correlated activities to improve the bargaining power of farmers to help them earn a better income."The second priority is the urban and rural development, where the aim is to achieve effective use of land and bring in world class infrastructure and amenities."Environment and forests is the third priority, wherein we aim at carbon neutral district by evaluating the emissions, setting targets for neutralising them and then achieving the goals by taking up various measures, including plantation drives, increase in solar energy foot print and bringing in scientific methods for water harvesting, management, and watershed development and recharging," he said.Telemedicine and distance education are the other priorities.
