NASHIK: Three city jewellers have come under the radar of Navi Mumbai police after a robbery was reported from Juinagar branch of Bank of Baroda at Navi Mumbai last week.Sources said that a Navi Mumbai police team is camping in Nashik city for the last few days. The team has been quizzing three jewellers to ascertain whether the trio have bought the stolen jewellery from the bank robbers. "We are still questioning the three jewellers," said a police official, investigating the case.On Monday, the Navi Mumbai police team detained a goldsmith from Malegaon in Nashik district for allegedly possessing over 1kg gold, which the police team suspects may have been bought from the robbers. The goldsmith has been taken to Navi Mumbai for further questioning.The robbery took place between November 11 and 12. A group of robbers dug a long tunnel to the lockers of the bank and fled with valuables worth Rs. 40lakh. Theaccused allegedly opened several lockers of the bank.Later, the Navi Mumbai Police arrested the suspected mastermind and three of his accomplices allegedly involved in the case. According to Nashik police officials, the Navi Mumbai police could have recieved some leads from the jeweller arrested in Malegaon regarding the robbery. "Some local jeweller may also be involved in the case. Hence, they are camping in the city till they complete their investigations," officials said.
