No pay for 4 months, man fakes robbery

Ghaziabad: A contractual employee of the electricity department who had not received salary for the past four months allegedly lodged a false police complaint that Rs 3.5 lakh he had collected for his office had been robbed and kept the money to himself.Amit Chaudhary, a resident of Modinagar, was arrested on Thursday. He alleged that two bike-borne men had robbed the money in Sihani Gate while he was on his way to office on Monday. He claimed the assailants also snatched his motorcycle, laptop and a gold chain.Investigation revealed Chaudhary had hidden the money in his house and parked the bike at a friend’s place. He has been booked under IPC Section 182. Chaudhary, a contractual staff of the electricity department, said as soon as he reached Ator Nagla village, the assailants blocked his path at gunpoint and snatched the cash he was carrying in a bag. The apparent robbery occurred at 9.45am, but Chaudhary had informed police over an hour later.
