While most are worried, many complain that their builders are no longer taking their calls.Soni Singh Rajput, a resident of Shahberi, told TOI, “Most of the people in this locality are new to the area. All these apartments were empty a year before. My husband and I shifted to this place in December last year and in just six months, I have started feeling unsafe in this area.”Shlok Upadhyay who lives on the second floor of the same building, said that the developer of his apartment, has switched his mobile off since the day of the twin building collapse. “Maybe our builder is also hiding as he has made a six-floor building though only up to three floors are legally allowed,” he added.Amit, who with his wife and two children shifted to Shahberi barely 15 days ago, said their broker initially tried to sell them a flat from one of the two buildings which had collapsed. “But we did not buy that because we thought that the structure of the building is weak. We are also not sure if our building is legal,” he said. Sanjay Nehalwal, another buyer, hinted of a nexus between banks — which sanction house loan — and builders. “They are playing with our lives. The authorities should intervene in this matter and take stringent action against the builders who have constructed illegal structures,” he said.
