Trials cover all of Aqua Line, six of 11 rakes reach Noida

Noida: The NMRC on Monday conducted trials on the third part of the Aqua Line from Sector 83 to Sector 71 metro stations. The NMRC has a target of operating the metro by October. All the stretches are about 10 kilometres in length.Sector 83 is the fifteenth metro station and with Monday’s trial, the NMRC has gauged the data of signalling, performance and synchronisation of all 22 metro stations. Officials said one more train has arrived at the depot from China, taking the total number of rakes to six.The NMRC needs a total of 11 rakes to start operations and hopes to get them before September-end.“We will soon invite the RDSO for a trial on this last stretch from Sector 83-71 metro station. With this, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has completed trials on the last section of the track.The NMRC will now soon invite the Research Design & Standards Organisation (RDSO) for a trial on this section of the track.Till now, trials were being conducted on the other two sections of the 29.7 kilometre-long track from Delta to Sector 146 and Sector 146 to Sector 83 metro stations.

Hopefully, it will be done in a week,” NMRC executive director PD Upadhyay told TOI.After the RDSO’s green signal to the last stretch, trials will be conducted on the entire metro line and the NMRC will have to get a speed, safety and oscillation certificate from the RDSO for the entire length of the track.Following this, the NMRC will need a final nod from the chief metro rail safety commissioner (CMRS), which is the ultimate authority to decide on metro safety. The NMRC has a target of operating the metro by October.
