  • | Tuesday | 11th September, 2018

The impact of the diversion on reducing congestion will be seen on Tuesday morning . NOIDA: In yet another experiment to smoothen traffic on the busy Sector 71 junction and Balak Nath T-point, traffic police has started diverting traffic at the intersection of sectors 50, 51 and 72.Jersey barriers were placed on a portion of the intersection around 10pm to block direct movement of the traffic coming from Sector 71 junction towards sectors 50 and 51.Those travelling from sectors 50&51 will also not be able to travel straight towards sectors 72 and 75.Now, commuters from sectors 50, 51 and nearby areas who are headed towards Sector 72 and 75 will have to take a left from the intersection and go on till a U-turn before the Sector 71 junction, increasing the route by over 2km.Meanwhile, those travelling from the junction towards the sector 50 side will have to bypass the intersection and take a U-turn before the upcoming Sector 50 metro station. The diversion will be permanent from Tuesday. While traffic police planned to affect the diversion on Monday afternoon, it was withheld till night as jersey barriers sourced from Noida Authority could not be made immediately available, and forces were busy in arrangements for the Bharat bandh call of the Congress. On Sunday, the traffic police had also checked the feasibility of school buses coming from sectors 50 and 51 and travelling towards Bhangel using the new route and whether they would be able to take the U-turns.SP (traffic) Anil Jha said the diversion was affected late so that traffic is not disturbed in the afternoon while adjustment of the barriers continues.
